Grace Tilley Magie

Grace Tilley Magie was born February 20, 1929 to Charles and Mildred Ratcliff and died in her home in Heber Springs on November 27. Grace graduated from the University of Arkansas in January 1950 with a bachelor's degree and married Ray Tilley in February 1950. While Grace had a successful career as a nursing home administrator, she would tell everyone who would listen that her greatest successes in life were her three sons, Bryan, Jim and Bill, who all went on to have post-graduate degrees. While Grace was very proud of her boys, she very much adored her daughters-in-law, Letha, Holly and Karen, and absolutely swelled with pride when talking about her grandchildren, Bobby, Margaret, Christian and Hannah and her great grandchildren, Harper, Evelyn and James William. Grace was a lifelong Episcopalian and was actively involved in her local church in every town she lived in throughout her life. She had a special passion for work with the Alter Guild and she considered that an important ministry for which she devoted great energy and resources. Grace was pre-deceased by her first husband, Ray Tilley, and her second husband, Al Magie, as well as her youngest son, Bill. She leaves to cherish her memories and her rich legacy of life and love, her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her special nieces Marty and Kay and countless friends and loved ones including her priest, close friend and confidant, the Rev. Marti Dalby. The entire family wishes to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Letha Tilley who never left Grace's side and made sure that she departed this life as she entered it with both dignity and grace. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Heber Springs on Saturday December 2 at 11 a.m. with reception in the church. The Women of St. Francis will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the St. Francis Altar Guild, 20 Woodland Cove, Heber Springs, Ark. 72543.
