SCOTT HECKER, 71, of Maumelle, passed away Thursday morning at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 17, 1946, in East St. Louis, IL, to Colonel George and Aileen Gasaway Hecker. The son of a US Air Force pilot, Scott attended many schools but often spent summers and holidays visiting his grandparents in Harrisburg where he made many lifelong friends. After graduating high school in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1964, Scott enlisted in the Air Force. While stationed in Ruislip, England, he married the love of his life, Margaret Wright Hecker, of London. Scott, Margaret, and son, Stephen, moved to Trumann in 1971 to continue his education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where he earned a BS degree in accounting. The family moved to Brinkley where their second son, Mark, was born in 1976. The following year Scott accepted a position as Controller of MISSCO Implement Company and the family relocated to Osceola where he was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church serving as Treasurer. Scott, an avid golfer, enjoyed living on Sage Meadows Golf Course in Jonesboro before accepting a position with Harrison Energy Partners in Little Rock and moving to his final golfing destination, on the course of Country Club of Arkansas. Scott was a kind, loving, generous man with a quick wit and an ability to turn any situation into a laugh, no matter the circumstance. With a photographic memory, he was assured victory in any game with friends (other than golf) and knew the words to any song published before 1980, which he happily sang with or without encouragement. He was the smartest person in the room, but no one would ever admit it. The party will never be the same without him. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his son, Mark. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Stephen; and grandchildren, Alexis, Jonathan, Megan, Scotty, and Mason; great granddaughter, Adalyn; and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105. A celebration of Scott's life will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, April 3 in the chapel of Roller Chenal Funeral Home,18301 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock with Chaplain Ken Stogsdill officiating. Visitation with the family will precede the service beginning at 1 P.M. Online obituary at: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
