Johnny E. Goldman, Jr.

Mr. Johnny Elwood "Butch" Goldman, Jr. departed this life on the third day of April 2018. Mr. Goldman was born in Newport on April 27, 1956. He was a lifelong resident of the Remmel community. Butch loved the outdoors. Spring, to him, was a time to work ground to prepare to plant rice and yo-yo for crappie. Summer meant long days watering rice with an occasional break for trot line fishing. With fall came the harvest of the crop and the fruits of the years work. Finally, winter brought his favorite time of all, when he left the fields for Cache River for the annual mallard harvest. He was a big man who lived an even bigger life. He truly loved those around him, although it didn't always feel that way. Anyone who knows him will immediately think of a time he went above and beyond for them. They will probably also remember times that they were unable to tolerate him. He loved to cook and made sure that everyone around him was very well fed. Butch was a myth of a man and the world will surely be a duller place without him. Mr. Goldman was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Johnny E. Goldman Sr. and Lillian Goldman. As well as one sister, Mary Lindsey. He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Clint Goldman and his partner Jeri Foster, Zachary Taylor Goldman and his wife Amanda Reeves Goldman; two stepdaughters Donna Goodman and husband Gary and Janet Davis; grandchildren Taylor, Destiney, Haley, Avery and Marty; and one very special, understanding woman, Mary Goldman; one brother, Gerald "Buck" Goldman; two sisters Patricia Treadway and Diana McClure. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Firefighters Burn Unit, Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. www.jacksonsfh.com
