Douglas Martin Johnson, age 62 of Midway, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at UAMS Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1955 in West Lafayette, Indiana to Robert Lee and Betty Martin Johnson, and raised in Leland, Mississippi. Doug graduated from Delta State University with a B.S. Degree in Accounting. He received his Master's Degree in Tax from the University of Denver. He worked with Touche Ross in Memphis and Peat Marwick in Oklahoma City before working at Arthur Young in Little Rock. It was here he met Cynthia Newton and on December 28, 1986 they were married. Mr. Johnson was a CPA for BKD for 14 years in Pine Bluff, where he and his wife raised their children. He was employed with Ballard and Company in Mountain Home for ten years before retiring in 2017. At each firm he was considered the tax guru – the one everyone went to with their complicated questions. He loved hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends. Despite many heartbreaks Doug never stopped cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Miami Dolphins. He was also devoted to any team wearing a Razorback or Boilermaker jersey. He was renowned for his near-encyclopedic memory of trivia. To him life was a musical, which he scored with his endless cache of well-timed silly songs. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Johnson of Midway; three children, Jerry (Mykle) Johnson of Munford, Tennessee, Patty Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Becky Johnson of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Lacey and Anna Lee Johnson; parents, Bob and Betty Johnson of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; two sisters, Diane (Rollie) Sabbatini and Kim (Dale) Logan, both of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431. Details of the memorial service will be found at www.cremationservicesofarkansas.com when they have been arranged.
