Mary Ellen King

Mary Ellen King, who resided near Cecil, Ark., passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born December 10, 1928, in Friona, Texas, to the late John Henry Key, Sr. and Gladys Myrtle (Hamm) Key. She was 89 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William Harrell Thompson, Charles C. Council, and James T. King; her stepmother, Ruth Key. Ellen was a wife and a mother, and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Branch. Ellen will also be remembered by her family and friends for making the best chocolate pie. She loved her family, her church family, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at First Baptist Church in Branch, with the Rev. Tim Hobbs and Stephen McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Kay Pearce and husband Harry, Joan McDonald and husband Michael, and Becky Lindley and husband Victor; one son, Danny Council; two stepsons, Trent King and wife Sheri, and Blane King and wife Faith; her granddaughters, Sarah Burford and husband Derrick, Allison Council, Elizabeth Curtis and husband Robin, and Jennifer Lindley; her step-granddaughters, Holly King and Hannah King; her grandsons, Michael Pearce, John McDonald, Stephen McDonald and wife Amanda, and Daniel Lindley; her step-grandsons, Joshua King and wife Venessa, Anthony King, and Brian King and wife Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Dansby and Allison Burford, Ethan Berkshire, Chester Curtis, and Stetson Curtis; her step-great-grandchildren, Mila King, Elijah, Caleb and Faith Curtis, Tyler, Briley, Chloe, Kelsie, Braylon, Jesse and Isaiah King. Pallbearers will be John McDonald, Stephen McDonald, Daniel Lindley, Robin Curtis, John Paul Pendergrass, and Charlie Ketter. Honorary pallbearers will be John Frank Pendergrass, Jerry B.
