JUNE MARIE DUERR, age 94, was born in Kremmling, Colorado, on May 18, 1923, and passed away in Benton, Arkansas, on April 9, 2018. She moved to Denver, Colorado, after high school graduation and became a secretary with Gardner Denver while she lived at the YWCA with other young women. While on a ski club trip, she met Hanswerner Duerr from Switzerland at a dance at Yellowstone Lodge in 1950 and they were married 4 months later. They enjoyed almost 54 years of marriage. June was able to be a "stay-at-home" Mom to 2 children, Donna and David, born after the couple moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. The family then moved to Kansas City, Kansas, Dallas, Texas, and eventually to Little Rock in 1964. Aside from her devotion to family, June enjoyed gardening, boating, and camping. From her childhood growing up on a ranch, she continued to be a consummate animal-lover. Many family snow-skiing trips were taken as well. Her fondness for her church family at St. Mark's Episcopal Church continued beyond her ability to attend services. June was preceded in death by husband Hanswerner, son David, her parents, and her brother. She is treasured and missed by her daughter, Donna, of Cammack Village, Arkansas, and Tabernash, Colorado, her grandson Max (Jenny) of Little Rock, her great-grandchildren Mia and Nora of Little Rock, various cousins in the United States and Switzerland, and a plethora of friends. The family appreciates the support and care these friends provided for June, who is remembered for her compassion, humor, and plain common sense, in the last several years. Visitation is Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th, Little Rock (501) 661-9111. Memorial service is Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 Mississippi Avenue, Little Rock, with a reception in the Parish Hall to follow. Interment is Monday, May 7, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., at Mount View Cemetery in Basin, Wyoming, where June's parents, Elizabeth and Wayne Woods, Hans, and David are also buried. Donations to honor June may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society or to St. Mark's. Special memories of June can be shared with Donna, 105 Englewood Road, Cammack Village, Arkansas 72207.
