Virgle J. Cook

Virgle J. Cook, 98, of Ward, Arkansas went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 19, 2018, three days shy of his 99th birthday. He was proud to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He was a Nurse's Assistant at the Little Rock VA Hospital for about 30 years. Virgle was a member of Ward First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson and Nellie Cook; his wife Molene Cook; and two sisters, Beatrice Howard and Macle Witcher. Virgle is survived by two sons, Dwight Cook of Prairie Grove and Larry (Kim) Cook of Austin; three daughters, Sue Ellerbee of Cabot, Sharon (Gib) Carmical of Sherwood and Gail Cook of Ward. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Kelly (Cherie) Ellerbee, LeAnn Ellerbee Gray, Jason (Jenie) Ellerbee, Sheri (Kevin) Ford, David (Belinda) Carmical, Paul (Tammy) Carmical, Brianna Cook, Lindsey Cook, Allison Cook, Anthony Ridgeway, Karie Sutton, Hannah Lester, and Zachary Cook; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mtn. Springs Cemetery.
