Wenonah Pearl Meyer, 96, of Springdale, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born to Verne Burdette and Blanche Edna (Mann) Guthrie on November 17, 1921 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She married Julian V. Pierce on September 2, 1938. Five daughters and one son were born to this union. After her husband's death in 1980, she married Eugene (Todd) Meyer in 1985. She is preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter, Willene Pierce; a son, Julian K. Pierce; and three grandsons, Jamie Rochelle, Skyler Shawn and Zachary Shawn. Wenonah is survived by four daughters: LaVeta Sergeant and husband William of Springdale, Karen Smith and husband Stacy of Fayetteville, Donna Reed and husband David of Fayetteville, Deanna Rochelle of Springdale; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sonora Baptist Church and was blessed with many friends whom she loved dearly. Those privileged to know Wenonah knew her to be a woman of immense faith filled with strength, honor, wisdom, and kindness. She remained young at heart all her 96 years. Never one to turn down an adventure, she was an extensive traveler, proud to have visited every state, most national monuments and many foreign countries. She was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to many. "...she is far more precious that jewels...strength and honor are her clothing...her children arise and call her blessed…" from Proverbs 31. Her children, and those who knew her, certainly "called her blessed." She will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is now experiencing things beyond our comprehension and has begun the greatest adventure of her life. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Sonora Baptist Church with interment at Brannon Mountain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MetaCamp, 8487 AL Hwy. 49, Dadeville, Ala. 36853, or to Native American LINK, P.O. Box 470974, Tulsa, Okla. 74247. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
