Mary Louise Mannix of Alexander passed away April 22, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 3, 1933. She was Married to her late Husband, John Joseph Mannix of New York City, New York. Her husband served in WWII in the USNR from 1942-45. They had six children together, all boy's, Guy, Clay, Slade, Glenn, Ross, and Brett. When her husband John passed away in 1972, she had the role of raising 6 boys on her own. And raise them she did! She got an entry level job helping in accounting for the Arkansas State Capital building. Previously, John and Mary's goal, was to move from Little Rock, and build a house in Mayflower. She didn't get to build their house but, she did fulfill that goal, and Bought a house, and moved her and her sons to Mayflower. After many years in accounting jobs, she went to a community college to become a Certified Medical Assistant. Later on in her life, she also attended Art and Music classes at UALR. Mary retired after working for several years as a Certified Medical Assistant. She lived with her sons in the last years of her life. Mary was of the Lutheran Faith. Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Marion L. Walker and Almeda B. "Saint Cloud" Bailey Walker; two sisters: Elizabeth, and Elaine; her husband: John Joseph Mannix; and three of her sons: Slade, Ross, and Guy Mannix. Survivors include three sons and their wives: Clay and Penny Mannix, Glenn and Sherry Mannix, Brett and Sheila Mannix; 10 grandchildren: Amy, Cynthia, Michael, John, Josh, Amber, Amy, Adam, Stacy and Kevin; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Juanita. Mary will be laid to rest with her late husband at Little Rock National Cemetery at Noon on Friday, April 27, 2018. Arrangements by Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
