James Thomas Ryan, 64, of Jacksonville passed on to his next journey on Sunday, July 29, 2018. He was born Thursday, April 8, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mary and Raymond Ryan. Msgt. Ryan retired after 25 years in the United States Air Force. Never one to be idle, he followed up with seventeen years in law enforcement. He was a member of the Tonyville VFW Post and the Wounded Warrior Project. Though his son challenged, J.R. will always be the grill master. He spent his spare time between the links, the cave and the lake. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Denise Ann Ryan; and his children, Heather Laske and James Ryan Jr. Survivors also include his mother, Mary Ryan of Brampton, Ontario; his grandchildren, Bella and Sarin Laske; and his siblings, Gary Ryan, Donald Ryan, Margaret Abbott, John Ryan, Sean Ryan, and Patricia Ryan. He was loved by a great many people and will be missed dearly by family and friends. Memorial services with military honors will be 10 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Deacon Max Elliott officiating.
