Ellard Lamb Jr., "Sonny", died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 89. He was the devoted husband of Henriette (Nee Ferguson) for 61 years: loving father of Linda (James) Brison, Ellard (Janice) Lamb III, and Mabel Lamb-Stewart; the proud grandpa of Tonya, Megan, Alexandra, Henry Ishmael, and Ellard IV; great-grandpa of Ramond and Mechel; the brother of Irma Walker and James Odell Lamb; brother in-law of Helen Lamb Hampton, Alexander (Adrena), Sterling, Dr. Joseph, Kenneth (Darnita), Charles (Marie)Ferguson, and Lou Edna Vaughn. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ellard Sr. and Queen Etta Moore Lamb; brothers, Jessie, Albert, Ernest, Felton, and Fulton; sisters, Mabel and Ruby. Ellard was an avid builder, nicknamed the "Hammer". He enjoyed being a handyman at home. Supervised the construction of many houses in Milwaukee subdivisions. He became the first Black City of Milwaukee Construction Building Inspector in the late 1960's. He was responsible for the Northridge Mall Project, and the Bradley Center. The family is grateful for the extreme professional care given by the staff at Columbia St. Mary Hospital, Emergency E.R. and at 6 West, his primary care physician Dr. Brett Twente and Urologist/ Oncologist Dr. Peter Slocum. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home chapel, 1200 Chester St., Little Rock, Ark. (501) 372-1305, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, 10 a.m.-noon. Interment will follow the service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
