Gerald "Gerry" David Peel Sr., age 82 of Mabelvale, Arkansas entered that eternal waiting place from his home on Thursday, August 2, 2018 surrounded by his wife and church family. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 18, 1935 to his late parents, Harold Raymond and Icie B Davenport Peel. Gerry was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and was a veteran of the United States Marines. Gerry was a prankster and jokester, but most importantly, he loved his family and the Lord Jesus Christ as evident in his writing on January 9, 2014. "A Better Place"….. "There's a place I've never seen beyond this world we know, a place I've only heard of but someday hope to go. It's not on any map. There are no roads to take me there, but it's a place of perfect peace. And though I understand some may be saddened when I leave, one day we all will meet again. That's what I believe." Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Sanchez Peel; one son, David Peel (Christina) of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Tamara Peel Ritter of Colorado and Melanie Mestas (Larry) of Ketchikan, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Josefa "Mama" Sanchez and his beloved animals. He is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Horner and her husband Weldon; father-in-law, Louis Sanchez Sr. and brother-in-law, Louis Sanchez Jr. A memorial service will be at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with Nick Hamilton officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to Maria "Lulu" and Juan Bravo and James and Katina Maison for always being present in their lives and a special thanks to Melanie and Larry for their daily communications and to their sister in law Helen Morgan Sanchez for all she did the last three months assisting Elizabeth with care giving and the staff at Arkansas In Home Hospice.
