Neal Clifton Sanders, 75, died Sunday, August 5, 2018. After a lifelong courageous and tenacious quest to overcome physical limitations, angels are rejoicing as Neal Clifton Sanders is now freely running and walking the streets of Heaven with all pain and suffering gone. His mischievous grin, strong presence and Christian character will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Born May 10, 1943 in Pine Bluff, Ark., Neal graduated from Watson Chapel High School and attended Ouachita Baptist College (now University). Neal's career took him away from his beloved state of Arkansas to work in real estate property tax assessment for various business entities in Houston, Texas, Wilmington, N.C., and Chicago, Ill. before winding up in Wichita. Neal retired in 2014. Neal was a steadfast Arkansas Razorback fan and an attendee at games as long as his health would allow. His knowledge of the Hogs over many decades was second to none. Neal was the basis for many family reunions in Fayetteville, Ark. when he called us together to enjoy family fellowship and attend Arkansas football games. During his life time here amongst his earthly family, he was a husband, a father, a son, a brother and a nephew. Neal will be greatly missed by his wife, Sandy Morrow Sanders; children, Matt Sanders and Lori Hattan; mother, Virginia Sanders of North Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Don Sanders (Darin) of Hot Springs, Ark.; sister, Nancy Dutton (Vernon) of Little Rock, Ark.; niece, Angela Looney (Jason) of Hot Springs, Ark.; and aunt, Dr. Margaret R. Downing of Waldo, Ark. Neal was predeceased by his father, Carl W. Sanders of North Little Rock, Ark. Neal was an active member of Metro East Baptist Church and the Prayer Warriors Sunday School Class whose outpouring of love and support especially during the past year has been such a blessing to Neal and his family. A celebration of Neal's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Metro East Baptist Church located at 333 N. 143rd Street, E., Wichita, Kan. 67230. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, those who desire may send memorial donations in Neal's memory to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, Kan. 67202 or Metro East Baptist Church. Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Please share your memories of Neal online at www.downingandlahey.com/obituary/neal-sanders.
