Mr. Elmer Rainwater age 95 of Mena, Arkansas passed away Monday August 13, 2018 in Mena. He was born on May 11, 1923 in Big Fork, Arkansas to W.E. Rainwater and Sinda Porter Rainwater. Elmer was married to the late Juanita Rainwater until her passing. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Henderson State University and a Master's Degree from Texas A&M at Commerce, Texas. Elmer had studied at St. Louis University and the University of Wyoming. He spent 38 years in Education and enjoyed teaching at Board Camp, Bismark, and Acorn. Mr. Rainwater retired as Superintendent of Acorn schools in 1983. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. Elmer also served as a pianist or organist for Mountain View Methodist Church for over 50 years.vHe was a loving and kind father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all. He is survived by: son: Randy Rainwater of Mena, Arkansas; foster son; Jerry Ward; one grandson and one granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife, Juanita Rainwater, his parents ,W.E. and Sinda Rainwater, sisters, Ada Pate, Edith Pate, Esther Prince and Alice Dunson, brother, Albert Rainwater and a foster brother, Bill Hess. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel with Brother Brian Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. General Visitation. www.beasleywoodfuneralhome.com.
