Paul Edward Miller, age 102, died peacefully at his home in Mountain View, Arkansas on August 22, 2018, surrounded by his family members. He was born in a log cabin just a few hundred yards from Bethlehem Cemetery in the Plainview Community near Judsonia on July 4, 1916 to Joe and Clara Edwards Miller and lived much of his life in this community, moving to Mountain View after his marriage to Jewell. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jewell Ferren Miller; sons, Paul R. Miller (Linda) of Judsonia, Dennis Miller (Veleda) of Brush, Colorado and Royce Miller (Bonnie) of Mountain View; step-son, Daniel Ferren; step-daughter, Gail Butler (Eudane); step-daughter-in-law, Ann Ferren. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren on both sides, including one, Amanda, who was born on the day of his wedding with Jewell. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Alyene Yocum Miller; son, L. David Miller; daughters-in-law, Emaline Miller and Pam Miller; step-daughter-in-law, Tammie Ferren; step-son, Allen Ferren and also by brothers, Charles Miller and Joe W. Miller. He was a graduate of Harding College (1939) and was recently distinguished as "oldest living alumnus" of Harding. In 1942, he was ordained as a minister in churches of Christ and served as preacher, bible teacher and/or elder in various congregations where he lived. He officiated at numerous weddings for family and friends as well as funerals. He was teacher/principal at White County Central School for several years, was a retired civil service employee for USDA Soil Conservation Service. He was an avid reader until his vision began to fail only recently. He also was a farmer, dairyman and carpenter. He was a noted historian having served on the board and past-president of White County Historical Society and member of Stone County Historical Society. He authored a history of Bethel Grove Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Grove Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery along with six generations of family members.
