Good-bye to Frances Burton White who touched so many lives (1926-2018). One absolutely brilliant intellect who made certain her children had every opportunity possible. Born in Pine Bluff, Ark., raised in Little Rock, graduated from high school at 16, lived her dream majoring in Biochemistry at Texas Women's University, moved to Waukegan, Ill., to work in antihistamine research at Abbott Labs, married Lloyd White of Waukegan, raised three children, and later mentored many more as a 25-year kindergarten teacher in the Waukegan public schools. Loyal member of AAUW, Waukegan First United Methodist Church, and PEO. Curious about everything. Passionate about traveling the world, absorbing museums, inhaling books, supporting theatre and music, sewing over-the-top clothes and costumes, challenging others, hosting dinner parties, and constantly being on the go. Particularly thrilled to become a great-grandmother. A true force of nature who was born in the wrong generation. She recently said she felt she had to fight for everything all her life but she can now rest - or get heaven nice and organized for all the rest of us! So enthusiastic to reunite with those who have preceded her in death: husband Lloyd Andrew White, parents, Melven and Helen Burton, brothers, Boyd Burton and David Burton, and countless cherished friends. Survived by children Andrew White (Sally) of Thomasboro, Ill., Penny Duncan (Stephen) of Spring, Texas, and Donna Friedel (Tim) of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren Matthew Duncan of Redmond, Wash., Becky Duncan of Spring, Texas, Amanda Friedel Burson (Will) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Haley Friedel Bergman (Ed) of Dallas, Texas, and Erik Friedel of Southlake, Texas; great-grandchildren Caroline Burson and Jack Burson, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; siblings, Judy Chreist (Steve) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Marion Burton of Little Rock, Ark.; and numerous friends and extended family. In lieu of services, celebrate her legacy by reading to a child, visiting a museum and living life to its fullest!
