DORIS JEAN FLOWERS, 81, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018 surrounded by her girls. She was born May 15, 1937 in Parma Missouri. She is survived by her two daughters, Mona Thompson and husband Don of Little Rock and Talena Ray and husband Michael of North Little Rock: grandchildren: Tara Edge and husband Cody of Dallas, Texas and Nathan Ray of North Little Rock, great grandchildren: Reece Edge and Bobby Edge of Dallas, Texas and a host of family and friends. Early in her marriage and while her children were just babies Doris and husband Bob opened a full-service floral shop in Lilbourn, Missouri named "House of Flowers" After selling the floral business she was a bookkeeper for several different businesses in both Lilbourn, Missouri and Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1976 she went to work as the Chief Fiscal Officer for the Arkansas State House of Representatives. After several very enjoyable years at the State Capitol she embarked on an entirely different career in 1988 when she opened "Something Special" a specialty gift shop and home accessories retail store on North Rodney Parham Road. She later expanded and moved the store to Bowman Road where she enjoyed many successful years before retiring. She was an active member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church and the Ben Miller Sunday School Class who were very dear to her heart. Doris was known for hard work ethic and attention to detail and absolutely loved to decorate, garden, cook and entertain her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice Home Care for their loving attention and excellent care. The visitation is from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday August 28 at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark., 72211. The funeral service will be held at Highland Valley United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 29, 15524 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark., 72211.
