Willard Leslie Burris

Leslie (Sonny) Burris, age 71 of Bismarck, AR, died Friday, February 2, 2018. He was born September 18, 1946, to Lloyd and Elsie Burris. He was retired from International Paper Company after 36 years. He was a volunteer firefighter with the New DeRoche Fire Dept. He was a member of the Caney Missionary Baptist Church since childhood. He loved to hunt and fish and loved his grandbabies. For 20 years he worked with the Hot Spring County Sheriff's office. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years, Mackie Burris and one sister, Virginia Burris. He is survived by two sons, Mike (Sonnie) Burris of Bismarck and Rodney (Kelly) Burris of Cornelia, GA; a special friend, Debbie Dollar of Arkadelphia; five grandchildren, Bridget Eakin, Sarah Burris, Matthew Burris, Jackson Burris and Nathan Burris; two sisters, Sue Newton and Marcille Thomason and one brother, Randall Burris, all of Bismarck. Funeral will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Caney Missionary Baptist Church with Bros. Ralph Ruffin, Pat Greer and Robert Cossey officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 4 from 2-4 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home.
