Betty Joan Houtchens, age 84, died at Rogers, Arkansas, on January 29, 2018. Born June of 1933, in Lexington, Oklahoma, to Edward Brock and Maxine Cooper Brock, she graduated valedictorian from Oktaha High School in 1950. In 1954, she married Doyle H. Houtchens. She lived in Gravette and Bentonville, Arkansas and worked with Doyle in Doyle Interiors until retiring. She was the bookkeeper and seamstress. She made draperies and upholstered furniture. Betty Houtchens, was an active member of Bentonville Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for several years. She sacrificed greatly without complaining to make sure her family had all they needed. She taught them to love God by her example. Her love for family came second only to her love for God. Survivors include Jo Ellen Davis and Sid, Roxy Picker and Kurt, Jeremy Houtchens and Michelle, Kirk Houtchens and Tammy, and Kent Houtchens and Kari. Grandchildren: Jeffrey, Wesley, and Matthew Hendren, Cory Jones, Casey Picker, Connor, Chad, Marcus, Matthew, Jamie, and Alysa Houtchens, Leah Todd and Katie Houtchens, Bradley, Heath, and Cordell Houtchens. Great-Grandchildren: Paulee and Drew Hendren, Kylee Hendren, Joslyn and Jayden Hendren, Carter and Cammie Jones, Caleb, Evelyn and Josiah Picker, and Kyngston Traxler. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Doyle Houtchens. A celebration of life will be held at Bentonville Church of Christ on March 30, 2018.
