Julia Rose Hockenberry Counts was born on September 19, 1927 in Shirleysburg, Huntingdon County, Pa. to Benjamin and Lillian Harry Hockenberry and passed from this Earth on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the age of 90 years. She is predeceased by her parents, siblings: Mary Crone, Esther Hockenberry, Margaret Davis (Leonard), John Hockenberry (Frances), Kenneth Hockenberry (Wilma), Dorothy McKinley, Pete Hockenberry and several nieces and nephews. Julia was raised in Sproul, Pa., attended elementary school in Claysburg, Pa., graduated from Milford Michigan High School and Draughon School of Business. Julia retired from the North Little Rock School District. She was a past Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and former member of Levy United Methodist Church. Julia is survived by her husband of 70 years, Doyle Counts, her children, Linda and Robert, two grandchildren Ashley (TJ Snodgrass) and Aaron Hatcher and great-grandson, Nate Snodgrass; and a sister, Joann Farmer (Bob), brother-in-law, Gregg McKinley and her kitty, Katie. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across the country that she greatly loved. Services are Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church with Rev. Cindy Henry officiating. Julia was cremated at her request, her ashes will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cabot Ark. A portion of her ashes will be taken to Sproul, Pa. to be placed with her family.
