Daryl James Hanig I, age 81, of Benton, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was born May 17, 1936 in Hampton, Iowa. Daryl was a U. S. Army Veteran and a retired foreman from Alcoa. He owned and operated Hanig Studio with his wife, Lynn. Daryl was the official photographer for the Miss Arkansas and Miss America Pageants. He helped build and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Margaret Hanig; son, Francis Eric Hanig and his sister, Marilyn Tarver. Daryl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jenna Lynn Hanig; two sons, Daryl James Hanig II and Jason Hanig (Tiffaney); two daughters, Jenna Henry and Bridget Shelnut; daughter-in-law, Karen Hanig; step-sister, Clara DelSoto; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rosary services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20 at Ashby Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park. Father James West will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas @ 201 Markham Center Drive in Little Rock, Ark., 72205.
