Marilyn McDuffie

Marilyn McDuffie, 81, died February 22, 2018. She was a resident of Providence Assisted Living, Springdale, Ark. She was born June 14, 1936 in Garrison, Texas, the first-born of Mildred and Leroy McDuffie. She lived with her family in Garrison until her father's death in 1994, then moved with her mother to the Fayetteville, Arkansas area, where her sister-in-law and brother, Catherine and Harold McDuffie lived. Marilyn worked as a seamstress, assisting her mother, who was an accomplished dressmaker. Marilyn graduated from Garrison High School in 1956. She was a social person and kept in touch with many friends and kinfolks throughout her life. She had a phenomenal ability to see and recall the relationship and kinship of hundreds of people. She also had an extraordinary eye for detail and the ability to recall events and places to a degree that would have been envied by any artist or writer. Marilyn was a Christian and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth McDuffie; and one nephew, Amos McDuffie. She is survived by Catherine and Harold McDuffie; sister-in-law, Sharla Johnson; four nieces, Justine McDuffie, Julie Thompson, Jerico McMatthews and Jill McDuffie; and two nephews, Canaan McDuffie and Robin Gipson. A memorial service will be held in the near future at United Methodist Church, Garrison, Texas. Marilyn will be buried in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in Garrison.
