Sue Russell Trotter, 80, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Trinity Village Medical Center. Born Elizabeth Sue Russell May 18, 1937, in McAlester, Okla., Mrs. Trotter was the daughter of Dr. Allen Rutledge Russell and Myrtle Chipman Russell. After moving to Arkansas at a young age, she was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was a proud member of the Psi Chapter of Chi Omega. Sue was a devout Christian and very involved in the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. She and her husband Henry were also involved in many fundraising campaigns for the church including a leading role in the Dreams and Realities Campaign for the church's major remodeling effort. Known as the moral compass for her family, she was often the guide for her family, through her faith, through good times and bad. Her quote "Sharing is the Happy Way" was well known to her children, grandchildren, and even nieces and nephews. It would be hard to imagine a person who loved planning and enjoying social events with family and friends more than Sue. She was the ultimate southern lady hostess who never met a stranger and quickly made new friends. She will not only be remembered for being a great wife and mother, but also for her inclusiveness and immense hospitality. She truly loved people and loved entertaining them. Sue utilized her talents to help several organizations. She was active in the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, a 10-year member of the Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation Board and active in the Junior League of Pine Bluff, where she won the Ella Hunn Payne Award. She was also active in the Sesame Book Club, where she was a past president. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ford Trotter Jr., whom she married April 22, 1961; and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Lynne Trotter Patterson (Rob) of Macon, Ga.; son, Henry Ford Trotter, III (Cindy) of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, Lucy Patterson, Roe Patterson, Kate Patterson, Annie Trotter and Hank Trotter. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff with a reception following in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
