Warren Kessler left this mortal life with peace and grace on January 6, 2018 with his wife and furry friend, Snickers, at his side. Born in 1938 and raised in Logan, Ky., Warren would later make Arkansas his home when he joined the Art Department faculty at UALR in Little Rock. He was a trained artist, an artisan potter who transformed the earth's clay into innovative art. Warren found pleasure sharing with his students the extraordinary features found in clay and its metaphor for molding and shaping our lives for purpose. Warren lived a happy life where people and the earth mattered. He extended kindness and his genteel manner to those he encountered. When outside of his studio, Warren found immense pleasure racing motorcycles, driving racecars, flying glider planes and indulging in ice cream after his evening meal. Warren designed and built the rural homestead where he and Carrie lived in Little Italy. It was their home where he found pleasure watching the phases of the moon, wildlife through each season, hiking the woodlands and appreciation for peace found in silence. As we celebrate his passion for each day, his rich life between "the dash" of his birth and death, Warren would encourage family and friends to seek pleasure and purpose in each new day. Following a 10-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Warren is now at peace, his body whole. He leaves us rich with memories. Left behind to carry on his legacy are his wife of 32 years, Carrie Kessler; his sons, Shawn, Todd and Jeremy; and a granddaughter, Madelle. His parents, Marshall and Lela Kessler, predeceased him. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkway Village Health Center for their loving care. A memorial celebration with friends and family will be held Thursday, January 11 from 6-8 p.m. at The Cliffs Condominium Club House, 800 North Street in Little Rock. A Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Friday, January 12 at 1 p.m., at Little Rock Funeral Home. Memorial tributes should be made to Last Chance for Arkansas Animals, P.O. Box 242703, Little Rock, Ark., 72223. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501) 224-2200. Warren's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
