Asher Brooklyn Ray, age 9, passed away at her home in Little Rock, surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was born on October 22, 2008 to Justin and Susan Adamson-Ray. Nicknamed "The Bit," she was a force larger than life and she fought a long hard battle against Ewing's Sarcoma. She attended The Anthony School in Little Rock, Ark. and was a Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant Diamond State Princess for 4 years. Her first year in the pageant she was the Children's Miracle Network Princess for Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was also the Princess for the current Miss Arkansas 2017. She was a lover of animals, reading, archery and an avid crafter of miniature things. She amazed those around her with her personality, sass and articulate vocabulary. She inspired a huge following of supporters by living her life to the fullest in light of her struggles with cancer. Her story is told on Facebook @TheBrooklynProject. She is survived by her parents; grandparents: Charles (CA) Adamson, Mike and Debbie Ellis, Joe and Dixie Phillips, Jimmy and Becky Ray, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at The Anthony School at 7700 Ohio Street in Little Rock on Sunday January 14, 2018 at 3 p.m. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Arkansas Children's Hospital, UAMS Radiation Oncology Center, The Anthony School, and the communities in and around Little Rock, Hot Springs, Stuttgart and DeWitt, Ark. and Graham and Mebane, N.C. for their loving care and support. We also sincerely appreciate all those who supported Asher over the years and followed her journey, showered her with love, gifts, and provided funding for the cost of her treatments.
