Shelby Jean Moore

Shelby Jean Moore, 80 of Star City passed away Tuesday, January 9th at Lincoln Heights Healthcare. She was born June 27, 1937 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late, Retired Col. Raymond I and Mary Fields Johnson. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She graduated from high school in Bermuda and retired after 48 years as Star City Schools Food Service Director. Preceding her in death are her daughter, Mary Moore Yarbrough and granddaughter, Marla Rae Yarbrough. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Harold B. Moore; son, Raymond (Tamie) Moore of Prescott; four grandchildren, Dustin (Crystal) Moore, Jacqulyn (Jason) Hoyt, Nicholas Yarbrough and Grayson (David) Shelby and six great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jaci Hoyt, Caden Moore, Hunter and Molly Shelby and Lynley Yarbrough all of Star City. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. John Marlar officiating. Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial at Palmyra Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Robert Floyd, Robert Wilson Floyd, Keith Thomas, Leroy McBryde, Michael Baggett, Charlie Baggett, Max Reed and Jackie Greenham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Haley, Dalton Zachary and James Myrick. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Yarbrough Scholarship Fund at the Bank of Star City.
