Betty Jean Pool

Betty Jean Pool, age 83, passed away on Jan. 8, 2018 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., on May 30, 1934 to Harry and Jessie Hamilton. She attended Central High School in Little Rock, Ark., and later obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas. She had a career as a secretary for Texas Medical Center, retiring from UT School of Public Health. She was a member of the Saint Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. In 2007, she and her husband, Howard Pool moved and became members of First United Methodist of Georgetown. Betty was an avid gardener, loved genealogy and tracing her family history. She was always known for throwing parties; from holiday celebrations to game nights. She loved to entertain everyone. She was preceded by her husband Howard Pool, her parents Harry and Jessie Hamilton, brother Jack Hamilton and sister, Janeatte Trimble. Betty is survived by her daughter Lisa Goodrum Slinkard of Houston, Texas, sons; William (Bill) Alton Goodrum of Houston, Texas and David Clark Goodrum, grandchildren; Hudson Goodrum and Parker Goodrum along with the grandchildren of Howard Pool. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation which will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at 9 a.m., funeral service will be at 10 a.m., with a committal service and reception to follow at 11 a.m. Arrangements will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Funeral Home.
