Kay Beaman Spivey

Kay Beaman Spivey of North Little Rock passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018, at the age of 76. She is survived by her son, Patrick, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, two granddaughters, Audrey and Adeline, and one sister, Jean Beaman, of Overland Park, Kansas. Kay was born on June 29, 1941, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she was raised. Kay lived a full and rich life. She grew up attending Razorback football games with her family, rarely missing a home game. She graduated from John Brown University. She traveled through Europe. She taught school in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving to North Little Rock. Kay quickly made some of her dearest friends through bridge groups and gardening clubs. Kay was an avid reader and historian. She had a saying for almost every circumstance, which she always started with the proverbial, "They say…" Kay loved playing bridge any time she could, often several times a week. Kay also loved gardening and tending to plants. She attended training classes through the Arkansas Master Gardener Program. She was also an outstanding cook. Two of her favorites were her Christmas prime rib and her unrivaled chicken and dumplings. But most of all, Kay loved her grandchildren. She was known simply as "Granny Kay" to her grandchildren and to her many friends at the Gertrude Remmel Butler Methodist Child Development Center, where she volunteered. Granny Kay loved attending her granddaughters' soccer games, dance recitals, pizza night with the family and Saturday morning breakfasts with them. Kay was a great friend to many and always put others ahead of herself. She will be missed. Kay's family will have a visitation on January 21, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114. The family will hold a memorial service in Siloam Springs at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gertrude Remmel Butler Methodist Child Development Center, c/o First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201.
