Sherman Wade Malcomb

Sherman Wade Malcomb, 83, of Cabot died Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born February 4, 1934 in Tioga, West Virginia to the late Sherman Peter and Viola Groves Malcomb. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Malcomb was a patriot having served his country in the United States Air Force in Korea and Vietnam, where he was wounded twice. After 26 years, working as a First Sergeant, he retired as a Master Sergeant and went on to serve the residents of Cabot as a police officer, working in CID and patrol and retired as a Lieutenant after 20 years. He went on to work in the drug task force and private investigation. He was a member of the VFW posts in both Jacksonville and Beebe. Mr. Malcomb was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and last hunted in October with his best friend, Pat. He was a great man, husband and father and an awesome "Gramps" who loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, Mr. Malcomb was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Malcomb and a sister, Lola Mollohan. Mr. Malcomb is survived by the love of his life, Jacomina Van der Grift Malcomb, who he met and fell in love with in the Netherlands. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on January 19, 2018. He is also survived by his children; Anneke Buhrman, Jacoba Dodd, Carla Eifling (Kenny) and Rita Nickles (David), sister, Jane Malcomb, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, nieces; Sharon Lynch, Roberta Smith and Carolyn Mann and his best friend and hunting partner, Pat Clark.
