Upon completion of military service, he, Charlotte and Rebecca moved to Pasadena, Texas where he was employed by Signal Oil and Gas. In 1963, and four daughters later, Guy received his call to the ministry. Charlotte, being the ever present rock of strength, supported this new chapter in his life. The family moved to Austin, Texas and he attended Austin Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity. During his career, Guy served as Associate Pastor of Bellaire Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas, Associate Pastor Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, Pastor and Head of Staff at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia, faculty member of Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, Interim Pastor at All Soul's Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia, Pastor and Head of Staff at Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, President of Mo-Ranch Presbyterian Retreat and Conference Center in Hunt, Texas, Interim Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas and Interim Pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton, Arkansas. Through his example, he taught his children about compassion and diversity. As a family they attended political rallies, boycotts, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and civil rights events. He was an advocate for equal pay and benefits for all. Guy was a strong opponent of the Vietnam War, as witnessed by his unpopular billboards. He was chairperson for the Arkansas Committee for National Health Insurance and testified before Congress with Ted Kennedy. Unfortunately, he did not see this come to fruition. Guy's generous heart, compassion and humor were witnessed by all who knew him. He was there to listen, advise, support and at times entertain. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Guy's memory to Heifer International at www.heifer.org. Arrangements entrusted to Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
