Dorothy Ann Akin, 82, of NLR flew into the arms of Jesus as a queen angel on Friday January 19th. She lived the life of six people so now we celebrate the entry of her life ever after. Dorothy was born in Pine Bluff to Theodore and Mildred Rannenberg. After graduating from PBHS, she married the love of her life, Gerald Akin. After Gerald worked years for Firestone, the Akin's founded Fleet Tire Service of NLR, Inc. where she worked until last year. She loved to travel with her family and plant flowers in her backyard. An avid basketball fan, she loved her Razorbacks and wouldn't miss attending her grandson AJ's high school games. Dorothy loved to cook, a skilled floral arranger and interior designer. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and loved her church family. Proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Akin; daughter Rebecca Humphreys ; Son Jerry Akin; sister, Christine Blair and brother in law, E. Ray Clinton. Left to cherish her memory are Terry Akin (Shelly); sisters, Judy Clinton and Mildred Cearley; brother, Teddy Rannenberg (Libby), brother-in-law, Jimmy Blair; grandsons, Jeff Akin and A.J. Akin, five great-grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. Dorothy also leaves lifelong friends Elsie and Gene Smith, Gail Saville and many loving friends, employees and caretakers. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 24th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3802 N. Olive, NLR. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23rd at Rest Hills Funeral Home on Landers Road. Donations to Trinity Lutheran Church may be made in Dorothy's memory.
