Edith Wagner Youngs had the great fortune of recently celebrating her 90th birthday with her family. Born December 28, 1927 in Ithaca, New York, she had the opportunity to live fully in New York, Florida and most recently, Arkansas. She had recently moved to a retirement community in Rogers, Arkansas to join the family of her son Brian, wife Margie and children. Edith was the beloved wife of James A. Youngs, who passed to be with his Lord in 2014. Edith and Jim celebrated 63 years of marriage during which they enjoyed summers on the St. Lawrence River and cruise vacations in the Caribbean. They were known for their sense of humor and celebrating with friends, family, and neighbors. Edith was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend, and brought out the best in those she touched. She was a woman of strength, courage, and had a heart of gold. Edith was a woman of colorful tastes who loved knitting, sewing, crafting, cooking, and gardening. Edith was an extraordinary cook who could prepare a delicious gourmet meal with short notice and loving care. She inspired the love of cooking in her family. She was a devoted woman who served and nurtured others in many ways. She was an advocate for children, providing school supplies and snuggly animals to ill children. She volunteered at the Bradenton Presbyterian Church food pantry for many years. Recently, Edith joined the circle of women knitting prayer shawls in Rogers, Ark. For the last quarter century, Edith and her dear sisters Janet, Lucille, and Ruth frequently gathered in Bradenton, Fla. to support each other, create beautiful projects, celebrate their families with lunch and tea parties, and generally have lots of fun and laughter. They were all a part of the Wah Wah Sisterhood, a circle of descendants and extended family of their mother, Ruth Bridgman Wagner and those that follow in the female lineage. Their motto was, "Be Always Kind and True". In addition to her loving husband, James, Edith was the loving mother of James B. (Peg), Syracuse, N.Y., Nancy Forster (Tom), Averill Park, N.Y., and Brian (Margie), Rogers, Ark. Grandmother of Ben and Suzy; Kate, Luke, and Shelly; and Julie, Laura, Keith, and Jake. She was beloved great-grandmother of Duncan, Tom and the expected new baby. A memorial service will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, Ark, 72758 on January 25th at 1 p.m. Service is officiated by Rev. Jim Lenderman and assisted by Rev. Brian Youngs.
