Gaylen Merle Schuck age 70, resident of Arkadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Gaylen was born on July 4th, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa; the son of Merle and Marjorie Schuck. Gaylen grew up on his family's farm in Iowa, and always loved being outdoors. Gaylen is preceded in death by his father, Merle Schuck of Parkersburg, Iowa. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Schuck Oligschlaeger age 96 of Brooklyn, Iowa; wife of 52 years, Linda, and their two sons, Scott (Gena) Schuck and children, Daniel (Westminister, Co), Caitlin (Matt) Hanks, Suzanne (Dallas,Texas), Samantha, Jacob and Benjamin Schuck in Edmond, Okla., Ryan (Angel) Schuck (Nashville, Tenn.), and children Cassady Schuck (Savannah, Ga.), Austin Kestner (Freeport, Fla.), Hollie (George) Bryant (Savannah, Ga.), Hunter (Kory) Kestner (Crestview, Fla.), and Autumn Kestner (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.).; nine great-grandchildren, Hydi, Nolan, and Romyn Schuck (Westminister, Co); Kyle, Addison, and Emilia Hanks (Edmond, Okla.); Emmaline Bryant (Savannah, Ga.), Hudson Kestner-Johnston (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), and Demi Kestner (Freeport, Fla.). He is also survived by his two sisters, Diane (Norm) Meester of Springfield, Missouri and Becky (Hank) Jungling of Applington, Iowa. As well as a younger brother, Russel (Gail) Schuck of Holiday Lake, Iowa; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. As well long-time friend Anna Duin and god-children Tenae, Joshua, and Sean from Craigmore, S. Australia. Gaylen is a veteran of the Unite States Army serving from 1966-1969. Gaylen worked for Edward Jones and Company as a financial advisor from 1988-2018, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia, a current member of Rotary Club of Arkadelphia as well as the past president and District Governor for 2011-2012. He is a major donor to the Rotary International Foundation. As well as a former Mason to the 32nd degree. Gaylen enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, working on his cars, meeting with his daily coffee group at Andy's restaurant, spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed greatly by his family, and all those who knew him during his life. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 6th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7th at First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia with Bro Bill Cato officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Rotary Sunrise Charitable fund, "Imagination Library" or non-profit organization of your choice in memory of Gaylen.
