Mary Lou Barnes, 94, of Fordyce passed away Sunday July 15, 2018. She was born in Cleveland County to James and Claudia Wright Garlington on February 14, 1924. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church for more than 60 years, loved our Lord, her family, and church, and will be greatly missed. Lou enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She was the owner /operator of Fordyce Floral Co. for many years. She is survived by her sister, Willie Faye McKissack; step-son, Elain Barnes (Martha); three step-grandsons, David Barnes (Susan), and Dr. Seth Barnes (Scarlett), Eric Barnes (Lettie); step-granddaughter, LaVesa Endres (David); step-granddaughter-in-law, Kookie Barnes; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces , nephews, and friends. Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Barnes; step-son, C.H. Barnes and wife Mary; step grandson, Tommy Barnes; six brothers, Paul, Bill, Carroll, James Jr., Jack, infant Garlington; three sisters, Norma Garlington, Emily Nutt, and Rubye McCollum. A funeral service will be held at Zion Baptist Church near Fordyce 2 p.m. Wednesday with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 989 HWY 229, Fordyce, Ark. 71742, or to the Tommy Wayne Barnes Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
