William Edward (Bill) Butler Jr.

William Edward (Bill) Butler Jr., 76, died July 14, 2018, at his home in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born August 9, 1941, in Hope, Ark., to William Edward (Tootsie) and Susie Erwin Butler. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Hope, former member of Hope Chamber of Commerce, Hope City Board of Directors and served several terms as Mayor of Hope. He graduated from Hope High School in 1959. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Ark., where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. During his long banking career, he served as vice-president of Citizens National Bank of Hope, President of First Federal Savings and Loan of Hope, Farmers' and Merchants' Bank of Rogers, United Federal Bank of Springdale, and Bank of Blevins. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Beaty Butler of Hot Springs, his two sons, Timothy Don Butler of San Antonio and William E. Butler III (Diana) of Hot Springs, and daughter-in-law Lori Butler of Hot Springs. Grandchildren include William McKenzie (Mack) Butler, William Edward Butler IV (Will), Matthew Thomas Butler, Mary Madelyn (Maddie) Butler all of Hot Springs, great-granddaughter Emmery Blake Johnson, and one brother Rick Butler (Derenda) of Dierks. A memorial service will be held at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. David Porterfield. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time. A private burial will be held at a later date. Special appreciation is given to Hospice Home Care of Hot Springs for the wonderful care Bill received from them during his illness.
