Elsie Lyndal Nielsen

Elsie Lyndal Nielsen passed away May 24, 2018 in Katy, Texas. She was born November 25, 1919 to Charles Haviland and Missouri Virginia Prater in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She met and married Bert Villery Guidry, a World War II veteran, in 1939 in Beaumont, Texas, where they raised their two children. They later moved to Rogers, Arkansas, where she owned and operated Lyndal's Fashions, a women's clothing store on W. Walnut St. in Rogers, for 28 years. After the passing of her husband Bert in l974, Elsie married Forrest Nielsen, and they were together for 21 years until his passing in 1996. After closing the dress shop in 1998, Elsie enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises. She was a life-long Christian Scientist and a long-time member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Rogers. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Barbara L. Martin of Denver, her son, B. Wayne Guidry of Katy, Texas, son-in-law Dorman O. Martin, and daughter-in-law Nancy M. Guidry; three grandchildren Tracy Edge of Dallas, Jessica Anderson of Houston, and Travis Guidry of Katy; and five great-grandchildren. Elsie had a long and happy life, and she will be missed.
