Dennis L. Gunnels of Rogers passed from this life on May 21, 2018 at the Earline Howard Hospice House in Springdale. He was born on February 10, 1953 in Jerome, Idaho to Lonnie and Dorothy Gunnels. Growing up, Dennis loved his time spent in the desert and canyons of the Snake River. After moving with his family to Arkansas in 1969 he began making friends around town from day one. While in school he met Carol Copeland. They dated for two years, and then married on June 6, 1972, when he was 19 and she 17. Dennis and Carol have one son, Joshua. Dennis loved his Lord, all his family, his fur-babies, fried taters, mom's fried chicken – even Carol's fried chicken! – laughing, fishing, and casinos. His survivors include his wife, Carol; son, Josh; mother, Dorothy; sisters, Sharlette David, Janie Anderson, Brenda Jones, Lorie Lynn Beekman; mothers-in-law, whom he loved dearly, Virginia Moody, Martha Copeland; a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie; and father-in-law, JB Copeland, who called Dennis "son". Dennis preceded his father-in-law, Robert Lee Moody, in death by three days. The family would like to extend special thanks to Johnelle Hunt; Tim Stoltz; John George; Scott and Paula Berna; Jason Engler; Randy Backstrom and everyone at Rollins Funeral Home; Ted Kerr; and Circle of Life Hospice for the care Dennis received in the last hours of his life. A celebration of Dennis's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Following the service, all are invited to enjoy refreshments and share stories with each other about your favorite memories of Dennis. The family requests casual attire for the celebration. No suits!
