James "Leroy" Moody, 85, of Fayetteville passed away at WRMC on Saturday, June 2, 2018. He was born Jan. 16, 1933 in Fayetteville, the youngest son of Terry W. Moody and Phoebe Hazel Sivage Moody. He was a Fayetteville High School class of 1951 graduate having lettered in football. While working for Phipps' Lumber Co. he joined the National Guard. On April 7th of 1953 he was activated with the Army and deployed to Germany. Upon returning from military service, he was employed with Arkansas Western Gas for 30+ years. Survivors are his brother, Charles Moody (Margret) of West Fork; sister, Wanda Peterson of Fayetteville; caregiver and niece, Coe Ellen Merritt (Ken) of Fayetteville; nephew, Matthew Peterson of Lowell; nieces, Kia Anna Peterson of Fayetteville and Kae Linda Townsend (Bobbie) of Ft. Gibson; great-nephew, Skylar; great-nieces, Kelsea, Shelbi and Libby, all of northwest Arkansas. Leroy was a Christian who loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly. He was a devoted Razorback fan. He loved the outdoors and was a skilled fisherman, and an avid bird-watcher who spent many hours feeding and caring for them. A brief viewing will be at Beard's Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with Scott Gage officiating.
