James Howard Lavender, 73 of Bryant, passed away on June 10, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ward E. and Reba Lewis Lavender. Jim was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton, where he was a Sunday school teacher and with the help of his wife, led a grief support group for many years. All who knew Jim said he was a fair man in business and had a dry sense of humor. He was in the grocery business for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jenny Ann Lavender and brother, Richard Allen Lavender. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Gail Lavender of Bryant, son, Michael Lavender (Jennifer) of Farmington, Arkansas, daughter, Ashley Lavender (James Erwin) of Gainesville, Florida, Lara Lichtenwalner of North Little Rock, brother, Jerry Lewis Lavender (Kathy) of Rogers, Arkansas, sister, Linda Kay Hewitt (Clyde) of Raleigh, North Carolina, grandchildren, Heather, Luke, Trey and Grace, and many nieces, nephews, and friends Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Benton with visitation at 10 a.m. The family would like to thank all the caring people in Infusion 4 at UAMS and Saline County Hospice.
