Dixie Faulkner Gunter, age 81, passed away into the loving arms of her Savior on June 17, 2018. She was born to the late Wesley Eugene Faulkner and Anna Lorene Butler on December 12, 1936, in Pangburn, Arkansas. Dixie was known for her zeal for life itself! She was beautiful in body and in spirit yet as humble as they come. Elmer Lee and Dixie met when they were both in the 3rd grade. Ever since that day, they were never apart. Having just celebrated 60 years of blissful marriage, the love they shared is evident in the beautiful daughters they raised. Dixie had a Master's Degree in Education and pursued a career as a teacher until retiring after 33 years. Most of her teaching career was done at Sherwood Elementary, but even after her retirement, her family fondly remembers how she "never stopped teaching." She was a devoted charter member of Sylvan Hills Community Church. As much as she devoted her time to many loves, her family was her top priority. Dixie loved nothing more than to take care of her beautiful family, especially doting over and spoiling her loving husband. She was a woman of virtue, elegance and humility. Someone whom will be greatly missed by all who knew her and fondly remembered. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cynthia Lee Gunter; and a loyal canine companion, Dakota. Dixie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Elmer Lee Gunter and three daughters: Valerie Lee Van Dame (Rick) of Frisco, Texas; Karla Ann Hand (Paul) of Sherwood; Kristen Lynette Fernandez (Jose) of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Sarah Gallardo (Josue); Lauren Ray (fiancé-Michael); Mack Ray; Jeff Hand (fiance'e-Sarah); Briana Fernandez; Armand Fernandez; Carlo Fernandez; five great-grandchildren: Hannah, Camryn, Logan, JJ, Layla; and two canine companions, Darcy and Neiko. Funeral Services to honor the life of Dixie will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Sylvan Hills Community Church, 8019 AR-107 in Sherwood, Ark. With burial following at Henderson Cemetery, Hwy. 124 in Pangburn, Ark. at 3 p.m. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. in North Little Rock, Ark. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
