Marcell Everdean Smith Henderson, 86 of Little Rock, went home to be with Lord Monday June 19th with her family surrounding her. Marcell Dean, as she was commonly referred to, is the tenth child of ten children born to the late Mr. O.T. and Mamie Smith of North Little Rock (O.T. Smith & Sons Funeral Home formerly of North Little Rock). She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, later she went to Gupton Jones Embalming School in Georgia. Later she returned to Arkansas to finish her education, receiving her Masters Degree in Education, which lead her to enjoy teaching in the Special Education Department. She was a longtime educator in the Forrest City, Lonoke and Little Rock School Districts. Her passion was always the children with special needs. She was greatly loved by all of her students. She had a love for people, she enjoyed cooking for the elderly in the South-end community. She was a nurturer, a single mother who raised three children, all of whom have gone on and received their degrees. She went to Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church in North Little Rock. Later joining Conner Chapel A.M.E. Church formerly of Little Rock. She is preceded in death by her brother; James, Herman, O.T. Jr., and Lawrence. Her sisters; Eloise Herndon, Oswald Richardson, Faye Labunzan and Eugenia Smith. One son-in-law; James P. Massie Sr. Left to cherish her love and her legacy are her children; Jauan Massie, Pastor Reginald Henderson and Kim Evans and her husband, Harold Evans all of Little Rock, Ark. Ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and one brother; Wendell Smith and his wife Dorothy Smith of Little Rock. And a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at the O.T. Smith Memorial Chapel, 8424 Kanis Road, Second visitation will be Saturday, June 23rd from 10 a. m. to 11:00 a.m., funeral to start promptly at 11 a.m. both services will be at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 217 N. Hazel Street in North Little Rock, Ark. Kelly Smith Funeral & Cremation Services, (8424 Kanis Road Little Road 501-612-5607) will be serving the Smith Henderson families.
