Mary Cerell Slaughter, age 102, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born on September 26, 1915, in Tientsin, China, to Frank and Mary Louise Newhouse. She is preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Richard Jones; by her husband and business partner, John Croxall; by her husband, Bob Slaughter; and her two brothers, John Newhouse who fought with the Navy in WWII, and Richard Newhouse who was killed in 1944 in combat during his last mission while flying a B24 Liberator with the 456 Bomb group in WWII. Mary is a Daughter of the American Revolution. She has lived a very colorful life as a secretary for a company that produced airplane parts in California during WWII and later a secretary at Warner Brothers in Hollywood. In 1957 she & her husband sold investments and Insurance with a Mutual Funds company in LA and later in San Francisco and Dallas Texas. She was an Eastern Star Matron in 1974. Mary's family and friends describe her as having an infectious, positive outlook on life and always on the cutting edge of things. She lived her life with purpose, dedication, persistence, patience, and a loving grateful attitude. She is survived by her three daughters; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date.
