Mrs. Lucy McDoniel, 88, of Newark passed away June 26, 2018. She was born January 28, 1930 at Newark, the daughter of Ollie and Leona (Spivey) Westerfield. Mrs. McDoniel was retired from White Rodgers Manufacturing, and was a member of the Newark Church of Christ. She was an excellent cook, and will be remembered for her candied sweet potatoes and chess pie. Mrs. McDoniel cherished her family, her friends, and her pets. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, B.F. McDoniel; her son, Jack McDoniel; her daughter, Terri Fick; her brothers, Roy, O.C., and Troy Westerfield; and her sister, Helen Garland. Mrs. McDoniel is survived by her son, Noel McDoniel of Dallas, Texas; her daughter, Linda Marshall of Little Rock; her granddaughter, Shannon Turney (Chris) of Benton; her grandson, Josh Fick (Brandy) of Newark; her great-grandson, Joshua Fick, Jr., and great-granddaughter, Annsleigh Fick, both of Newark; and her daughter-in-law, Sue Cicero (David) of Benton. Friends may visit at Jackson's Newark Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Jackson's Newark Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Danny Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert Griffin, Marty Duncan, Adam Fudge, Billy Davis, Max Fick, and Chip Sturdivant. Stan Miller will serve as honorary pallbearer.
