Our angel on earth, Susan "Susie" Tinsley Gillihan, 86, suddenly received her heavenly wings on March 4, 2018. While she was more than ready to be reunited with her loved ones in heaven, we were not ready for her to go. Susie was born to the late Thomas Cleveland Tinsley and Rosa Lee Mitchum Tinsley on February 27, 1932 in El Dorado, Ark. She is preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Jack Tinsley and Eloise Bates, and the love of her life, Carl Wayne Gillihan. Susie is survived by her three children, whom she loved with all of her heart: Bridgett Norwood (Wyn), Laurie Osborne (Bob), and Brad Gillihan; and four grandchildren Brandon Gillihan (Jennifer), Matthew Couch, Lindsay Wolf (Scott), and Chase Osborne. She had step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives too numerous to mention along with a plethora of friends that she considered family. Also left to cherish her memory is her beloved rescue dog, Feonia, who she always said rescued her. Susie attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas before she met her dear, sweet Carl. She was a nurse for 30+ years and also served our country as a military spouse. As a Master Gardener, she loved beautiful flowers and plants and freely shared her wisdom with those interested in the craft. She was also a member of the Eleanor Roosevelt Democratic Club for several years. Susie and Carl were faithful members of FCC Sherwood for more than 25 years. Although she had numerous hobbies, including reading and painting, what Susie will always be remembered for is her loving heart and open arms. She rarely ever met a stranger, and if she did, they were likely invited to have dinner with her that same evening so that she could get to know them. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know her. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church of Sherwood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10th. Online guestbook at www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
