Virginia Bettis Greenwood, 98, of Little Rock and Ferndale, passed peacefully from this life on 4 March 2018. She was born to Robert and Maude Bettis in the Joan community near Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Harry Greenwood, sons; Jerry (Shirley) Greenwood, Richard Greenwood and his infant daughter Christi, sisters; Dale (Ernest) Green, Ruby (Totsie) Stevenson, brothers; Jack Bettis, Bernice (Connie) Bettis, and brother-in-law, Wilbur Shellhammer. Survived by son, Fred (Judy) Greenwood of Little Rock, sister, Hazel Shellhammer of California, grandchildren; Mark (Tamara) Greenwood of Benton, Curtis Greenwood of Oklahoma City, Olkla., Ledawn Hall of Damascus, Jennifer (Mark) Jones of Little Rock, Holly (Mike) Treasitti of Benton, and Kim Kollen of Irvine, Calif., 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 15 beloved nieces and nephews and their families. She married in 1938 in Hot Springs and moved to Little Rock in 1941. She was a secretary and retired from the Pulaski County Unit of the State Health Department in 1980, at which time she moved to the Ferndale community. She spent 28 enjoyable years there, participating in local activities and having many close friends. She was a member of Highland Methodist Church (now Highland Valley Methodist) for 77 years. A tireless worker in her church, she loved reading, travel, and genealogy and spent many hours and traveled many miles researching family history with her niece Ernestine Reynolds. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and her many friends. To her immediate family she was "Granny". Maintaining family ties was very important and she looked forward to any family reunion. A family graveside service, to be conducted by her nephew Don Bettis and his son Mitch, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, 17 March, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Joan.
