Claire Lee Sims, age 87, of Hot Springs, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Hot Springs, the daughter of Dillion Odell Sims and Claire Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Charles Jefferson Clifton, "Charlie;" brother Burkett Moore Sims, brother Robert Sims, and sister Mary Adele Sims Percefull. Ms. Sims was kind and sweet—tender and giving—resilient, tenacious and reserved. She had a brilliant mind and was funny. As a Sunday School teacher, Rainbow Girl Mother Advisor, an Eastern Star, and throughout her working career in the Radiology field, she stood as a catalyst—a boulder—on which young people could stand and reach higher and farther than they ever could have imagined. Claire was a devout Christian and member of First Baptist Church, Hot Springs. She graduated from Hot Springs High School, attended Ouachita Baptist University, and later refined her skills at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She retired as the head of the radiology department at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Hot Springs. Left to cherish her memory is her brother, John B. Sims Sr. and wife Mary Ann; sisters, Lou Anne Currie, Virginia Barr, and Caroline Garnier; niece, Janis Percefull, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends. Her celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Pounders officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hot Springs. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Lance Percefull, Richard Percefull, Christopher Percefull, and Patrick Percefull. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Hamilton Percefull, John Sims Sr., and John Sims Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Jackson House at www.jacksonhouse.org. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
