William Albert "Bill" Staggs, 75, of Hindsville, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Springdale. He was born March 14, 1943 in Fayetteville to Charles Thurman and Mayme LaClede Simpson Staggs. Bill grew up in the Stony Point community and graduated from Fayetteville High School. He was a Christian and when he moved to Hindsville attended the Evergreen Church of Christ. Bill had a beautiful voice and when he was younger would lead songs at church. Bill was a poultry farmer. He also retired from both SWEPCO after 34 years, and then from Barrett Direct Line after 12 years where he was known as the "Godfather" to all of the drivers. He married Clara Fern Wright on April 17, 1964. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Craigg Staggs, Sean Staggs and wife Tracy, Mardy Brooks and husband Shawn all of Hindsville; one sister, Jan Smith and husband Steve of Searcy; 13 grandchildren, Cory Staggs, Jacob Nix, Jeremy Nix, Ashton Gulley, Kaylee Staggs, Zackary Staggs, Shasha Christman and husband Matt, Darby Staggs, Austin Bowen, Stormy Staggs, Alyssa Brooks, Abigail Brooks, Annadale Brooks; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Gulley, Sawyer Christman, Briar Christman and Aiden Bowen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Staggs. Bill loved reading and compiling the genealogical history of his family. He also did a lot of research for others on their family trees. He was a man of knowledge and could give answers for whatever you needed to know. If he didn't have a book in his hand he was at the computer doing research. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms in the spring and working on antique cars. He lived by the Golden Rule and taught his children the same to "do unto others as you would have others do unto you." Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Joyce Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
