HAZEL SHARON THOMPSON IRVIN COX, 69, of Maumelle, Ark., died on May the 4 in her home in Maumelle, Ark. More commonly known by her middle name, Sharon was born in Conway, Ark., on Feb. 21, 1949 to the late Clarence Harrell Thompson and Eva LaRita Odenbaugh Thompson. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Wilson Irvin and daughter, Tina Michelle Irvin Paul; one sister, Rita Mae Thompson Minnick; and five brothers, C.L. Thompson, Harrell Thompson, Richard Thompson, Gene Dale Thompson and Dr. Billy Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee Cox, of the home; one daughter, Sheri Irvin Chamblee (Jon) of North Little Rock; two sons, Vernon Irvin (Sarah) of Maumelle and Virgil Irvin (Jana) of Bigelow; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one loving sister, Dr. Carolyn Thompson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. She retired, after 26 years, from Target Distribution in Maumelle, Ark. She was a long time member of Northwest Assembly of God and then Oak Hill Assembly of God. She courageously battled cancer for 20 years and never lost her faith in Jesus Christ. She loved camping trips with her children and going to Branson, especially at Christmas time. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Graveside Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway. Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Sean, Sam, Alex, Weston, and Tucker and her great nephews, Brad and Josh Hall. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/Conway. The children want to express their gratitude to their Aunt Carolyn for coming and staying with Momma and providing exceptional care, for many months during her last days.
