Shirley Aston

Shirley Aston, age 81, of Norman, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born January 29, 1937, in Norman, the daughter of Millard Fillmore "Cap" Cox and Goldie Anderson Cox. In 1957, she was married to Edwin "Pudden" Aston who preceded her in death on March 30, 2018. Along with her husband, beginning in the early 1960s she owned and operated Aston's Grocery in Norman while raising their three young boys. After two decades in the store, she frequently filled in at The Lady Like Shop and she was a regular volunteer for community activities until she was no longer able. Throughout her life, her gentle soft-spoken nature often led people to comment how sweet she was. She had a special way with animals and a special touch with pretty flowers and plants. During her last years, the warm cards and thoughtful gifts she received brought much needed smiles. She is survived by three sons, Ronnie Aston of Leavenworth, Kansas, Brian Aston and Forrest Aston, both of Norman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Duane Cox of Norman.
