Troy E. Sheets

Troy E. Sheets, age 85, of Pearcy, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born June 25, 1932, in Beaton, the last living child of Hermon M. Sheets and Lura Ida Allen Sheets. On April 21, 1956, he was married to Virginia Ann Tankersley who preceded him in death on October 27, 1992. Troy was a United States Navy veteran, served in the Korean War and received the Korean War Service Medal. He attended the Philippi Church of Christ and retired from Reynolds Aluminum at Jones Mill after 35 years of service. Troy was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662, where he served as Worshipful Master, and was a member of three additional lodges, serving in this capacity. He also served as District Deputy Grand Master for the State of Arkansas, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Troy was an avid bee keeper, cattle farmer and very active in Hot Spring County political events. He enjoyed attending gospel singings and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Jay Sheets of Bonnerdale; his twin daughters, Janice (Mike) Farr and Jeanette (Tom) Shepherd, all of Sheridan; six grandchildren,; six great-grandchildren; his special cousin, Inez Runyan of Glenwood; three brothers-in-law, Roger Tankersley and George Hill, both of Pearcy and Royace Braziel of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. Luke Henson and Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honors Team and masonic rites will be provided by the Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Bismarck. Pallbearers will be Adam Allen, Sam Shepherd, Kolby Shepherd, Tyler Farr, Camron Hurst, Roger Tankersley, Brad Braziel and Jason Braziel. Honorary Pallbearers will be J. P. Shepherd, Dr. John Featherston, Dr. Kathy Liverett, Judge Chris Williams and the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #100 in Amity.
